One of the best things about traveling is getting to sample different food in different states, cities and countries. Although you can get the sample them without getting out of your city (going to Turkish, Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean restaurants downtown), the experience just isn’t the same!
For example, would it surprise you when I say that the food that you usually find in your favorite Japanese restaurant might taste a little differently from truly authentic Japanese food in Japan That is because when you open a restaurant, the chefs make it a point to localize the food for the local market.
A fast-food chain may sell a key number of products that tastes more or less the same but if you are a consistent traveler, you will know that the fried chicken in another country will taste differently from the fried chicken in YOUR home city.
That is why people love to travel for food!
Locals have their own way of cooking things. For example, you can have someone learn how to cook Texan food in college but he or she will never truly be able to give it the local touch unless he learned it from a local. And in every dish, there is a dose of culture in there. How would you know how to cook Mexican food unless you knew their culture, why they used certain ingredients and why they cooked it the way they do
Simple. You can’t completely emulate something original like that, hence, whenever you get the chance to travel, always try out their local food. A little bit of this, a little bit of that…it will make your trip a memorable one for sure.
